Program Overview
The Hospitality and Tourism industry is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. It is dynamic, exciting and offers unlimited worldwide opportunities. However to succeed in this demanding profession you need reputable qualifications and skills as well as relevant work experience. TAFE NSW – Illawarra Institute is offering international students an opportunity to undertake a two year combined Diploma in Hospitality Management and Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery customised program to be delivered through our Snowy Mountains based Cooma Campus and our coastal based Nowra Campus. A key feature of the program will be four “guaranteed” paid seasonal employment placements in both Australia’s spectacular Snowy Mountains region for the 2009 and 2010 Australian winter ski seasons (June – October) and on the pristine New South Wales South Coast for the peak summer holiday period (December 2009 - January 2010 and December 2010 – January 2011).
A Unique Australian Experience
The Illawarra region is the gateway to the stunning NSW South Coast and Snowy Mountains, famous worldwide for their natural beauty. Coastal and mountain towns such as Nowra, Berry, Batemans Bay, Jindabyne and Cooma, for example, are typical Australian rural towns full of character and special delights. This is why we have chosen these areas to host the study and employment placement periods of this international program.
Paid Employment Placements
During the employment placement periods you will be paid regular Australian award wages that will assist with your training and living expenses.
In some cases your employment placement will include onsite accommodation, meals and other staff benefits such as recreational activities and ski passes (conditions apply).
Our International Student Unit can arrange accommodation and meals at carefully selected properties with a focus on enriching your Australian experience. These properties offer a wide range of exciting sporting and recreational facilities and are
within walking distance to town centres and services. Regional tours and outings can also be arranged to allow you to enjoy many of the special things Australia is famous for such as our untouched beaches, magical wildlife, national park treasures and fascinating Aboriginal culture.
