Sunshine Beach State High School
Sunshine Beach State High School programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of students. These programs develop students' academic, civic, creative, social, personal, and athletic skills.
To achieve its goals, Sunshine Beach State High School has expanded resources to accommodate such programs, e.g. BYO laptops, specialized science and language labs, STEM and robotic facilities, film studio, junior secondary facility, special life skills area, innovation center, technology facilities including hospitality and design technology, indoor / outdoor play areas, fully equipped gym, darkroom, marine aquaculture and boating equipment, and a performing arts center.
Geographic location has some influence on what and how students study at Sunshine Beach State High School. The proximity to the water enables unique courses in oceanography with practical projects on the Great Barrier Reef.
The school also has access to many "The Arts" areas such as art, photography, dance, theater and music.
In terms of languages, the school offers Italian, but there is also the possibility of learning other languages such as Japanese, Spanish, German, Indonesian and French by distance learning.
In the area of “technology”, the school offers industrial design, graphics, furnishing, fashion, hospital and children's studies.
The Science Faculty covers a wide range of sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics, oceanography, and aquatic practices.
Vocational areas include hospitality, tourism, visual arts and the marine industry. A well developed, high speed computer network ensures students undertake a 21st century education - with its challenges - fully equipped. With an experienced, professional and caring staff, Sunshine Beach SHS is able to proudly boast a quality education in a quality setting recognised as a Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations.
