English as a Second Language
The majority of English language learners at Ogilvie are former refugees. They are provided with a complete timetable for all classes prior to commencement of studies.
Learning support is provided in class and the ESL program teachers are team/co teachers to students in specific classes. Classes immerse students in extended language sequences and programs integrate language so that English is developed simultaneously with new curriculum knowledge. Therefore there are no ESL classes in their own right.
