The professional communication skills program has become an integral part of Macquarie’s Master of Accounting (MAcc).
One of the major aims of the LPCA project is to assist students in understanding that accountants need more than just technical accounting skills. Professional accountants need to be able to communicate and work in a team.
The language skills program has been a joint project between Macquarie’s Department of Accounting and Finance and the National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research (NCELTR) on campus.
“For over four years we have worked together towards a common objective to support the language needs and enhance our students’ abilities to achieve,” says Mary Dale, Program Director of the MAcc.
Students are taught skills that will enable them as accountants to go beyond a narrowly defined role of ‘number cruncher’ into a far more enriching and significant roles within an organisation.
