Why study at Griffith University
The origins of Griffith University lie in its educational philosophy that revolutionised thinking on alternatives to current teaching methods so that students were able to reap the rewards of a wholesome university education and not the traditional university education that had been the main course in Australian universities. Thus, Griffith university came into being.
The university has moved away from the specialised academic courses on offer to concentrate on the general educational achievements of its students. The university recognised early on that a wholesome education would immensely contribute to a student's personal and academic development. This was a revolutionary educational philosophy that distinguished Griffith from the rest.

Henry studied and worked as an engineer before coming to Australia to complete his Master of Engineering at Griffith’s Gold Coast campus. He was excited about having a new educational experience that would enhance his career prospects and help him achieve his goals. “I chose Griffith because it ranks in the top 5% of universities in the world and offers a great educational experience,” he said.
After only one year at Griffith, Henry has achieved a lot, conducting research, developing reports, presenting findings, and developing the ability to think critically and analyse concepts. He also contributes to our student blog, Explore. “The teaching staff are innovative in their methods and our Course Convenors have both industry and academic experience. I have also enrolled in the Industry Mentoring Program which offers me the opportunity to be guided by a mentor in my field,” he said.
Upon graduation, Henry plans to apply for a post-study work visa and gain work experience in the Environmental Engineering field. “I intend to return to Nigeria after I gain work experience to invest the skills and knowledge I have gathered to make a meaningful career,” he said.
