When you are confronted with an emergency where either yourself or someone else is involved in a life threatening situation, dial the number 000. This is a free number that you are able to dial from all mobile phones and all landlines.
To report any non-emergency crimes such as theft, go to your local police station, and if you live in WA, SA, NSW, NT, ACT and Tasmania, dial the number 131 444.
If you need search and rescue services, or if you are hit by a natural disaster, or are involved in a event of mass casualties, dial the number 132 500. This number is applicable for all states in Australia.
