DESCRIPTION
Carine Senior High School is set in attractive grounds and the faculty buildings are connected by covered walkways through pleasant surrounds. Tranquil green land, ovals and parks flank the modern buildings. Students from China and Japan have completed tertiary entrance courses at Carine Senior High School and has hosted exchange students from all over the world.
Cultural exchange programs and study trips regularly take place to Germany, France, Reunion Island and Japan. Physical recreation facilities include a gymnasium, a swimming pool with diving facilities, basketball courts, two ovals, cricket nets and tennis courts. The school buses transport students to sporting events and excursions.
The newly constructed performing arts centre with its green rooms and music rooms accommodates drama, dance and music programs and is used for school assemblies and public performances. Carine Senior High School has an admirable reputation in the academic field with well above the state average of graduates gaining admission to universities.
As well a significant number of students gain admission to TAFE colleges. Students are keen on playing sport at Carine and many ex-students have achieved national and international recognition in sports such as soccer, football, rugby, cricket, Basketball, tennis, water polo and surf lifesaving. Graduates have made successful careers in business, law, medicine and public relations.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
These programs are available to international fee paying students. Interested students should contact the school or information about application procedures.
- Academic Extension (Years 8-10) offers stimulating experiences to academically able students who are selected by testing and teacher referral.
- Music (Years 8-12) offers special tuition to talented students selected on past performance and audition.
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
The school has an English as a Second Language class for students from non-English speaking backgrounds in Years 10 to 12. A specialised teacher also offers small group support when required.
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
Carine Senior High School has a very strong focus on pastoral care, based around a year system. Each group has a year coordinator and assistant to foster the school ethos.
A positive rapport exists between staff and students. The student services team monitors the personal development and academic progress of students. Counselling in career issues, subject selection, study skills and social and emotional development is available through the psychologist, youth education officer and the chaplain.
The new health centre is staffed by a full time nurs e who is available to students for counselling in health matters. These people provide a strong network of support for students. Directed study periods are included in the timetable to give students assistance and guidance in managing their study time effectively.Â
